2026 3rd Quarter Report
Every Neighbor Fed–Housed–Healthy
The Community Help Initiative (CHI) brings together Suncrest’s ministries that help meet our neighbors’ basic needs. Through practical assistance, personal connection, and compassionate care, we support individuals and families facing difficult circumstances.
Alongside financial assistance through the Community Help Fund, CHI includes three outreach programs:

Nurture Nook
Provides hygiene products, personal care items, and other essential supplies for people and their pets.

Blessing Boxes
Offer food and basic supplies at community locations, making help available where our neighbors live. Our three locations are:
•Timberline Apartments: 3557 Collins Ferry Rd, Morgantown, WV 26505
•Marjorie Gardens: 1109 Dorsey Ln, Morgantown, WV 26501
•Community United Methodist Church in Morgantown: 1966 Grafton Rd, Morgantown, WV 26508
Suncrest currently stocks the boxes at Timberline Apartments and Marjorie Gardens, and we can always use volunteers to help fill these two locations. This is a practical way to serve our neighbors and support access to food and essential supplies. Please click HERE.

Roots of Renewal
Provides women experiencing homelessness or housing instability with personal care, encouragement, and opportunities for connection.
Together, these ministries allow us to respond to different needs while treating each person with dignity and care.

Community Help Fund
The Community Help Fund provides financial assistance for needs such as utilities, food, clothing, and transportation. Our monthly assistance budget generally ranges from $1,000 to $2,000, depending on the previous month’s giving. Each request is reviewed individually, considering the household’s circumstances and available funding.
Two policies help guide this work. First, our six-month rule generally limits financial assistance to once per household within a six-month period. This helps us make our resources available to more neighbors.
Second, our general assistance maximums are $100 for utilities and $50 for gift cards. These amounts are guidelines rather than automatic awards. Household size, the ages of children, the needs presented, and other circumstances help determine the amount of assistance offered. Exceptions are considered individually and require appropriate approval.

Welcoming Our Social Work Intern
We are pleased to have Katie Wessman, a social work intern, joining us for this school year. Katie will support CHI’s work with individuals and families while gaining practical experience in community outreach and connecting people with resources. We are grateful to have her with us and encourage the congregation to welcome her.
Thank You, Suncrest
All of our programs are made possible through the generosity of the Suncrest congregation. Your giving, donations of supplies, volunteer time, and prayers help us care for our neighbors in meaningful ways. Thank you for supporting this ministry and making this work possible.
